Why K18 matters with color
K18 is offered as an add-on with any chemical service and is recommended when highlighting or bleaching overprocessed hair. At Hair Inc we use the treatment to help improve hair strength and porosity so the lifting process causes no further damage where possible, based on each client’s starting condition.
Deciding to add K18 is a trade-off between extra protection and appointment cost: the add-on is $25. Stylists assess the degree of overprocessing and advise whether K18 will help preserve integrity during lifting, especially during our busiest months in May, June and December when many clients request lightening.
What to expect in salon
K18 is applied as part of a chemical appointment at Hair Inc and is sold separately for continued at-home use. If your hair is flagged as overprocessed, your stylist will recommend the add-on and explain the take-home option. Additional leaving K18 treatments are available for purchase in the salon for continued maintenance.
Results in the chair depend on your hair’s current condition and the chemical service performed; K18’s role is to support strength and porosity, not to reverse all prior damage. Local factors like Bakersfield’s hot, dry summers and occasional poor air quality can influence hair condition and the stylist’s recommendations.
At-home follow-up requirements
Hair Inc recommends a minimum of five at-home K18 treatments after the in-salon service. Those take-home treatments are sold at the salon and are intended to be used post-appointment to help sustain the protection begun during the chemical service; the number used and frequency should follow your stylist’s guidance.
If you plan a highlight or bleach, ask for the K18 add-on when booking and consider purchasing the at-home pack. Book early around major event seasons and busy months (May, June, December); our downtown Bakersfield location near the Fox Theater and Highway 99 makes scheduling convenient for commuters and event-goers.
